Akwa Ibom Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), has re-elected, Mr Nsemeke Udoakpan as Chairman for a second term.
Udoakpan who was re-elected unopposed at the 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Institute in Uyo on Friday, following his outstanding stewardship.
He was first elected for a two year term on June 8, 2019 the tenure which was later extended by one year across board for all chapters in the country due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
Others executives are; Mercy David- Vice Chairman, Darlington Udobong- Secretary, Toyin Sunday -Treasurer and Anthony Udoh- Financial Secretary.
Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr Okon Imerh, who announced the results, assured that other vacant positions will subsequently be filled through a bye – election.
In his acceptance speech, Udoakpan pledged his commitment to the ethos of fairness, transparency, integrity and commitment.
He recalled that, the gains of his former tenure were largely due to the support and cooperation of members, and further solicited same cooperation to enable the new executive move the state chapter to enviable height.
Mr. Udoakpan, enumerated the achievements of the body to include; capacity building for members, commencement of PR library, attendance at national events and programmes, commencement of Uyo Study Center of the NIPR, water project, hosting of international workshop on speech writing and protocol, hosting of roundtable and observation of Local government election, among others.
According to him, “our plans as we return for a second term will be the completion of perimeter fencing, furnishing of PR Library, production of volume ll of our Book of readings/PR journal, consolidation of the Uyo Study center, continuous participation in all national events and activities, regular hosting of workshops, roundtable and other capacity building initiatives”.
The high point of the event was the giving of excellence and meritorious awards to awardees, among them: Commissioner for Special Duties, Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Okpolupm Ette and Director – General, Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation (AKBC), Mr. Anietie Ukpe.
