BUA Cement Wednesday donated projects worth over 275 million naira to the host communities of Gidan Boka in Wamakko Local Government area, Sokoto state.
The projects, which include fully furnished clinic, school mosque and 170 tonnes of BUA cement, to 68 communities was part of the company’s yearly corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Speaking before handing over the projects to the host communities, BUA cement Managing Director, Alhaji Yusuf Binji, said the new facilities were donated to relocated settlements where their operations cover.
The MD, who was represented by BUA’s Director of Human Resources, Alhaji Altine Wali, said the company after clearing lands in new Gidan Boka community, equally allocated lands to affected families.
On his part, BUA Cement Head of Administration and Corporate Services, Mr. Sada Suleiman, said in addition to what the company was handing over, it had also constructed roads, provided cemetery, supplied water and electricity to other host communities.
According to Sada, BUA, since its operation in the communities, has continued to ensure routine distribution of cement for communities to repair mosque and other infrastructures in addition to supplying drugs and granting scholarships and providing educational materials to citizens of their host communities.
While stressing that the company enjoys very cordial relationship with the Sokoto state government and all the host communities, Sada added that their projects were geared towards complementing the government towards improving the living conditions of its citizenry.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Chairman of Wamakko local government, Alhaji Halliru Guiwa, represented by the Vice Chairman, Alhaji Garba Muhammad, thanked the company for their various interventions.
Guiwa further noted that beneficiaries of the projects should consider themselves lucky and be grateful to BUA, however appealed for continued support to host communities.
