Customs ACG meets Sokoto/Zamfara command’s stakeholders to facilitate smoother relationship

The Customs Zonal Coordinator in charge of Zone “B” Assistant Comptroller General of Customs (ACG), Sambo Kaliel Dangaladima, has held interactive sessions with stakeholders in Sokoto/Zamfara geared towards enhancing working relationship.

Kaliel, who is in charge of Sokoto/Zamfara Area Command had discussions with leaders of Customs licensed Agents, Car dealers association of Nigeria, Sokoto chapter and the National Association of Onion producers and marketers of Nigeria.

Addressing the stakeholders in his opening remarks, ACG Dangaladima said the Service under the leadership of it’s Comptroller General, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, remained committed to hitch free trade facilitation in line with world best practices.

These, according to Dangaladima, include the deployment of trade facilitation tools such as Authorized Economic Operator programmme (AEO), Time release studies (TRS) and Advance Ruling (AR) all geared towards strengthening international trade.

While appealing to the business communities to always ensure compliance to Customs extant laws, the Comptroller appreciated the commitment of officers in the Area towards service delivery.

He further stated that Zone B covers the largest landmass among all four zones in the Service, making comprehensive oversight a significant undertaking. He noted that for a decade, due to the challenges posed by this large area of coverage, no ACG had been able to complete a full tour of all the Commands in the Zone, yet despite all obstacles and security challenges, ACG SK Dangaladima has demonstrated his commitment to a firsthand and thorough assessment of each Command within the zone.

The Comptroller encouraged stakeholders to bring forward their observations, suggestions, challenges and recommendations, stating further that the ACG is a deeply committed leader who will rely on their feedback to update the Comptroller General of Customs.

In response, the Chairman, Sokoto Association of Customs Licensed Agents, Alhaji Aminu Dan’iya, eulogized the ACG for organizing such an engagement which is one of its kind in the last 10years. He assured the ACG that his members will continue to be law abiding and compliant stakeholders.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of Sokoto/ Zamfara Area Command, Superintendent, Abdullahi Tsafe Abubakar also noted that the
ACG had a session with officers and men of the command where he advised them to be the embodiment of the Service’s motto which is “justice and honesty” in their areas of responsibility.
