Nigeria’s U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, have booked their place in the final of the 2025 WAFU B U20 Championship after beating Niger Republic 4–3 on penalties on Sunday, 20th July, 2025.
The semi-final clash, played at the Cape Coast Stadium, ended 0-0 after regulation time as both teams failed to take their chances in a tense contest.
With no extra time in the tournament rules, the match went straight to penalties. The Flying Eagles held their nerve, scoring four of their spot-kicks to edge past a determined Nigerien side.
Nigeria will now face the winner of the second semi-final match between host nation Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire, which was scheduled for 6:00 p.m. local time on Sunday.
The final will decide the WAFU B U20 champion, with qualification for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations also at stake.
