Foundation donates goods worth N200, 000 to Orphanage in Ota

Ancestral Pride Foundation, an NGO involved in welfare, on Friday donated goods worth over N200,000 to an orphanage in Ota, Ogun.

Chief Fashola Faniyi, the Founder of the group, who disclosed this to newsmen, said the donation was part of activities to mark his birthday.

According to him, the goods include bags of rice and beans as well as cartons of Indomie and sanitary materials.

Faniyi said that giving to the less privileged in society is part of the objectives of the foundation.

He also said that the foundation, which would be formally launched on Nov. 24, was set up to promote African social-cultural heritage.

”There is the need to change people’s orientation about our traditional beliefs and practices.

”People believe that our traditions are devilish in nature and this is not true.’’

Faniyi said that members of the foundation would be visiting schools in Ota and its environs periodically for cultural orientation.

He noted regrettably that many children were unable to speak their mother tongue, stressing the urgent need address the problem.

Faniyi made reference to China, which he says employs indigenous solutions to address cultural problems.

He also urged film makers to portray the Nigerian culture positively, in order change the orientation of the people.
