Gombe State Governor, Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya has presented a budget proposal of One hundred and thirty billion, six hundred and sixty eight million, seven hundred and thirty-seven thousand, five hundred and ninety-three naira, forty-eight kobo (N130,668,737,593.48) to the State House of Assembly.

Tagged “Budget of Change”, Governor Inuwa said the budget was prepared having in mind the administration’s consultation with the people after it organized a town hall meetings involving all stakeholders in different parts of the State who made their input into the 2020 budget.
He explained that the budget is made up of Fifty-nine billion one hundred and ninety-eight million, two hundred and eighty-three thousand, nine hundred naira (N59,198,283,900.00) as recurrent expenditure and seventy-one billion, four hundred and seventy million, four hundred and fifty-three thousand, six hundred and ninety-three naira fourty-eight kobo (N71,470,453,693.48) as capital budget.
He said the budget is to be financed by an estimated recurrent revenue of eighty-two billion, five hundred and sixty-two million, six hundred and fifteen thousand naira (N82,562,615,000.00).
Governor Inuwa said a budget deficit of sixteen billion, six hundred and six million, one hundred and twenty-two thousand, five hundred and ninety-three naira fourty-eight kobo ((16,606,122,593.48) is envisaged to be financed by internal and external borrowings.
In the budget estimate, works and transport sector got the highest allocation of nineteen billion, six hundred and twenty-seven million, fourty-eight thousand naira (N19,627,048,000.00) while science, technology and innovation sector got the lowest allocation of five hundred and fourty-eight million, three hundred and seventy thousand naira ((N548,370,000.00).
Expressing his administration’s determination to deliver, Governor Inuwa said, “this is a budget of the people, by the people and for the people. And by the grace of Allah, we shall deliver on our mandate.
” The budget was prepared with the guidance of our resource forecast using the 2020-2022 Medium term expenditure framework (MTEF) and the fiscal strategy strategy paper (FSP).
Speaker of the House, Abubakar Sadiq Ibrahim, assured the Governor that “the ball is now in our Court and we wish to assure your Excellency that the budget will receive expeditious legislative scrutiny and passage by God’s grace”.
