A group in Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Akwa Ibom Democratic Forum (ADF), has petitioned the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to fix Nsasak – Urua Inyang – Ikot Uko – Azumini Road to alleviate their suffering and also link them with the neighbouring Abia State.
The petition was made by the group’s Director – General, Obong-Emem Ekperikpe Ekpo shortly after it was inaugurated yesterday calling on the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the Sole Administrator of NDDC, Barrister Effiong Akwa to construct the Nsasak- Urua Inyang-Ikot Uko – Azumni Road to ease movement.
The 20km road according to the Forum, is the gate way connecting Akwa Ibom and Abia State, stretching from Nsasak in Essien Udim Local Government Area through Urua Inyang, Ikot Uko in Ika Local Government Area to Azumini in Abia State.
Ekperikpe Ekpo, who is a former federal lawmaker said the road construction, when completed, would rejuvenate the economy of the area assuring, that he will take their appeal to Senator Godswill Akpabio and Barrister Effiong Akwa.
‘‘We have to thank God for providing our grand leader, Chief Godswill Akpabio with another unique office to continue his good works to the people. He always has Ika people at heart and will use his good office to ensure quick delivery of the road project.”
Ekpo urged Akwa Ibom people to appreciate God for giving the State Senator Godswill Akpabio, whose selfless service and love for the people cut across ethnic, tribal and religious barriers.
Also speaking, a former Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr Udom Ekpoudom, urged the newly inaugurated executives of the local chapters of ADF to remain focused to the ideals of the group.
He recalled the many achievements of the grand leader of the group, Senator Godswill Akpabio, as Governor, Senator, and presently a serving Minister of Niger Delta Affairs opining that, Akpabio remains a visionary, pragmatic and trustworthy leader and urged them to follow his footsteps.
The inauguration of the Chapter Executives of ADF, which was assisted by the Administrator of the group, Barr. Chris Okorie, took place at Ika, Etim Ekpo and Essien Udim LGAs amidst fanfare with Barrrister Uyobong Udom, Mr. Ubong Afia and Mr. Uduak Etim Udom emerging chapter coordinators.
The newly inaugurated coordinators pledged their loyalty to the grand leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio and to the ideals of the group and promised to work to achieve the objectives of the group.
