Hon. Kabiru Amadu, the new Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports, has issued a rallying call to the Super Eagles ahead of their crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying double-header against Libya. He emphasized the importance of securing all six points in both matches to strengthen Nigeria’s qualification campaign.
The Super Eagles are set to face the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in their third qualifying match on Friday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, with the return leg scheduled for next Tuesday in Benghazi.
Speaking on the team’s preparations, the lawmaker from Zamfara State, representing Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency, expressed confidence in the Super Eagles’ ability to deliver victories in both encounters. He highlighted the quality of the players and urged them to demonstrate their capabilities on the pitch.
“I have no doubt that the boys will make us proud against Libya, especially considering their performance in the last round of matches,” said Amadu.
“I was impressed with their display against the Benin Republic in Uyo, and even the draw against Rwanda in Kigali showed a strong performance. I expect them to step up that level on Friday and continue where they left off.”
Amadu further reassured the team of the National Assembly’s support, emphasizing that the lawmakers, including the Speaker of the House, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, are backing the team to succeed.
“As lawmakers, we are fully behind them, and the Speaker is always rooting for the Super Eagles to make Nigerians proud,” he added.
Nigeria currently leads Group D of the AFCON qualifiers with four points from two matches and will be looking to solidify their position with a strong performance against Libya.
