IWO donates to IDPs in Borno State

A nongovernmental organization, International Women Organization, (IWO), has donated relief materials worth millions of Naira to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Borno state, as part of their efforts to bring succor to the IDPs in the state.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Borno state government, the state’s deputy Governor Alhaji Usman Mamman Durkwa thanked the organization for the gesture.

He said the items will go a long way in complementing the effort of the state government, NEMA and other stakeholders in alleviating the hardship of the IDPs and called on other organizations, corporate organizations and individuals to emulate the IWO.

Durkwa called on the organization to woo many other international organizations to assist the IDPs, adding that their presence in the state indicates that peace is gradually coming to the state.

Earlier in her speech, the President of the IWO Mrs Zainab Saleh said they had gone round some of the IDPs camps in the state and seen the condition of the IDPs and promised to try hard and bring more items to the IDPs.

She said the items was part or their meager contribution to the IDPs, adding that they contributed money from their members with assist from other sister organizations to procure the items and promised to wow more organizations and cooperate bodies to assist.
