After weeks of speculations, Manchester United, Friday, completed the signing of out-of-contract Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Ibrahimovic took it upon himself to announce on Thursday that he had agreed to joined United, posting a message on Instagram that read: “Time to let the world know. My next destination is Manchester United.”
Manchester United released a statement, Friday evening, stating Ibrahimovic was their man.
“Manchester United is delighted to announce the signing of Swedish international striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Ibrahimovic, 34, made 180 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain, scoring 156 goals. He has won championships in four different leagues since beginning his professional career with Malmo in 1999. Zlatan represented his country 116 times, scoring 62 goals, before announcing his retirement from international football last month.”
On his part, Zlatan said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Manchester United and am looking forward to playing in the Premier League. It goes without saying that I cannot wait to work with José Mourinho once again. He is a fantastic manager and I am ready for this new and exciting challenge. I have thoroughly enjoyed my career so far and have some great memories. I am now ready to create more special memories in England.”
Ibrahimovic is the second player to join United since José Mourinho took over as manager, following the £25m capture of defender Eric Bailly from Villarreal. Ibrahimovic worked with Mourinho at Internazionale during the 2008-2009 season, when the club won the Serie A title. Overall, the striker scored 25 goals in 35 appearances under Mourinho.
“Zlatan needs no introduction,” said the United manager. “The statistics speak for themselves. Ibra is one of the best strikers in the world and a player who always gives 100%. He has won the most important league championships in the world of football, now he has the opportunity to play in the best league in the world and I know he will grasp this opportunity and will work hard to help the team win titles.
“I am certain that his talent will delight fans at Old Trafford next season and that his experience will be invaluable in helping to develop the younger players in the squad.”
Meanwhile, former player and assistant coach at the club, Ryan Giggs is set to leave Manchester United and end a 29-year association with the club.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic: the ego lands and eyes fairytale end at Manchester United
The Welshman was assistant manager to Louis van Gaal for two years before the Dutchman was sacked in May. Giggs, 42, had 12 months year on his terms but has agreed a settlement with the club, with Rui Faria, Mourinho’s long-term assistant, expected to again fill the role under the new manager.
It is thought Mourinho offered Giggs a role within the youth set-up but he decided his future is now elsewhere, having been disappointed not to be considered as Van Gaal’s successor. Club officials have not confirmed the news yet but it is understood his departure will be announced in the coming days.
The Cardiff-born Giggs served a short stint as caretaker manager after David Moyes’ departure at the end of the 2013-14 campaign.
Prior to that, he was a fixture in United’s first team for 23 years, scoring 168 goals in all competitions and winning 13 Premier League titles, four FA Cup winner’s medals, three from the League Cup and two Champions League winner’s prizes.
But the fans’ favourite has never hidden his desire to progress as a manager and he is widely believed to have been disappointed that he was overlooked for the top job.
Having completed his coaching badges, Giggs was linked with Swansea City last season and Nottingham Forest this summer, although that post has now been filled by Frenchman Philippe Montanier.
Giggs, who played 64 times for Wales, has most recently been seen as a pundit for ITV during Euro 2016 but has given no clues as to what he will do next.
The first man to win back-to-back PFA Young Player of the Year awards (1992 and 1993), Giggs was named PFA Player of the Year and BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2009.
In a glittering career as a player Giggs became the highest appearance maker, having played 963 times for the club.
