Messages of goodwill flow in as Vice President Osinbajo turns 63

Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, who was born on March 8, 1957, has clocked 62 years.
Osinbajo, who survived a helicopter crash in Kogi on Feb.2, 2019, won re-election on Feb. 23, 2019 for another four year term with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Nigeria’s 5th Vice President, Osinbajo is the Chairman of the National Economic Council which deliberates on economic planning and programmes of the various tiers of government.
The vice president attended Igbobi College, Lagos, University of Lagos (UNILAG) from 1975 to 1978, and London School of Economics and Political Science.
He was Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State between 1999 and 2007.
Osinbajo worked as a Professor of Law at the University of Lagos for many years; he was also a Senior Partner with SimmonsCooper Partners, a commercial law practice.
He is also a Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
Osinbajo and his wife Dolapo Osinbajo have three children.
Meanwhile, there has been an avalanche of goodwill messages for the Vice President from political, religious and other leaders from across the country.

President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, for one, has felicitated with Professor Osinbajo, as he marks his 63rd birthday on Sunday March 8, 2020.

Lawan noted the many outstanding achievements of Osinbajo as an erudite lawyer, distinguished scholar, revered clergyman and political leader.

“The Vice President has shown exceptional loyalty in government and dedication to his duties.

“Professor Osinbajo has brought his diverse experiences to bear on his role in government and demonstrated that one can actively participate in politics at the highest levels and yet maintain personal integrity and high reputation,” Lawan said.

The Senate President joined his family, friends and associates in celebrating a great Nigerian leader and role model.

Lawan wishes the Vice President many more years of great accomplishments and good health.

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has also congratulated the Vice President on the 63rd birthday.
The association thanked God for his life and the indelible contributions he is making to the development of the nation and the church in Nigeria.
The National President, PFN, Rev. Felix Omobude in a statement on Sunday described Osinbajo as an Ambassador for the Christian community, who is presently on national assignment.
“We are proud of how he has continued to discharge his duties with the sense of humility, wisdom and dignity required of such high office.
“We appreciate the grace of God upon his life and the work he is doing for our nation.
“Our prayer for him is that he will continue to stand strong to the true dictates and tenets of the faith.
“He would not be lacking in terms of vision and courage to stay true to his beliefs, Omobude said.
According to him, the association wishes him many more years, in good health and vitality, and greater impact in his service to fatherland, now and in the future.

All Progressives Congress, APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has also felicitated with Vice President Osinbajo as he clocks 63 on Sunday, March 8, 2020.

Asiwaju Tinubu spoke of Osinbajo’s reputation for loyalty, dedication and selflessness.

In a congratulatory statement on the vice president’s birthday released on Saturday in Lagos by his media office, the APC leader said: “I congratulate Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on turning 63.

“Erudite legal luminary, Osinbajo’s reputation for loyalty, dedication, selflessness is well deserved. He is resolutely committed to the causes he believes in.

“Osinbajo has proven to be a dependable ally of President Muhammadu Buhari, working harmoniously with the president to deliver for the country.

“I recall with fond memories the time we worked together along with other technocrats to help lay a solid foundation for an egalitarian and prosperous Lagos.

“We used the instrumentality of the law to advance the course of restructuring and get for Lagos what rightly belongs to her.

“Most of the landmark cases Lagos won at the Supreme Court bore Osinbajo’s imprint.

“I wish his wife, Dolapo Osinbajo, and other members of the family a most memorable celebration.

“My prayer is God Almighty grant Osinbajo continued good health, renewed vitality and many more years of service to the country.”

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege in his message, said.

the Vice President will long be remembered for his endless cerebral contributions towards achieving genuine change and for his active role towards genuine reforms in Nigeria.

In a congratulatory message to mark the Vice President’s 63rd birthday, Senator Omo-Agege described him as one of the prime figures driving the All Progressives Congress, APC and President Muhammadu Buhari’s change agenda.

The Deputy Senate President also noted that the robust stature of the Vice President’s intellectual presence and his pragmatic actions in the area of public sector reforms have their roots in noble antecedents.

“Our Vice President, Professor Oluyemi Oluleke Osinbajo, GCON, was a remarkable Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General credited with undertaking far-reaching noteworthy judicial reforms in Lagos State and among other achievements, he addressed access to justice for the poor by establishing relevant institutions in the Office of the Public Defender (OPD) and the Citizens Mediation Centre (CMC).

“He is not only a successful lawyer; he was a member of the International Bar Association, the British Institute of International and Comparative Law and has served in the Nigerian Body of Benchers and the Council for Legal Education of Nigeria with a great record of active involvement in the pursuit of legal education reform in Nigeria.

“Today, I join his family, associates and other citizens of our great country in wishing our dear Vice President a happy birthday and many more years of active contribution towards the upliftment of the masses and our people-focused agenda.

“Mr. Vice President, you are heading a legacy of cerebral contributions and active roles towards genuine populist change in Nigeria; once again, I wish you a happy birthday” he stated.

The Northern Governors Forum (NGF) has equally congratulated Prof. Osinbajo as on his birthday.

Chairman of the forum, Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau in a statement by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Makut Macham on Sunday, described Osinbajo as a unique gift to the country.

Lalong said Osinbajo was outstanding, as seen in his tenacity and patriotism in his service delivery to the country, saying the gesture had contributed immensely in uplifting Nigerians.

“As chairman of the National Economic Council, Osinbajo has shown his deep knowledge and understanding of the challenges facing the Nigerian economy as well as deployed his versatility, team spirit and mobilisation skills in advancing practical solutions to its improvement.

“The vice president has shown total loyalty not only to President Muhammadu Buhari, but to the nation by giving reliable counsel and carrying out his assignments with excellence,” he said.

The chairman lauded the vice president’s passion for liberation of the poor through strategic empowerment programmes, which had created jobs for many Nigerians and improved the capacity of Micro-Medium and Small Scale Enterprises to deliver its statutory functions.

Lalong said that the northern governors’ forum in particular, had been enjoying cordial working relationship with the vice president, as he had supported efforts toward reducing poverty.

He said the input of Osibanjo was significant, in tackling the challenges of Almajiri System, improving agricultural development, tackling insecurity as well as ending the farmer herder clashes.

He prayer for God to continue to grant the vice president more years of peace, good health and prosperity, while urging him to continue offering his wisdom and knowledge to the growth of Nigeria’s democracy and the enhancement of Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
