Morocco awarded AFCON title after CAF overturns final result

Morocco have been named winners of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) changed the result of the final.

In an official statement, CAF confirmed that Senegal forfeited the match, which means Morocco were given a 3–0 win.

The decision ends what was a tense final between two of Africa’s top teams, Morocco and Senegal.

CAF has not yet explained fully why Senegal lost the match, but reports suggest it may be due to breaking rules or disciplinary issues. The decision is expected to cause strong reactions across the football world because of how important the final result is.

Morocco, who performed well throughout the tournament with good organisation and consistency, now win the title in unusual circumstances. For Senegal, it is a big disappointment as they lose any chance of being champions.
