Nigerian footballers, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, make September Goal of The Month shortlist

Nigerian footballers, Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi have made the September 2023 Goal of the Month shortlist at their respective clubs.

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi will battle with eight others for the Fulham FC, September 2023 goal of the month award.

His only goal for the Cottagers, a brilliant strike in the EFL Cup Third round win over Norwich City on September 27 is among the goals for vote.

Iwobi who joined Fulham on transfer deadline day on a five year long contract from Everton FC will face competition from seven other players, amongst them Nigeria eligible Chibuzor Nwoko.

Nwoko’s strike was in the U-18 Premier League clash vs Chelsea FC, the youngster rifled an effort from distance into the top right corner to hand Fulham FC a two goal advantage at the Cobham Training Ground on September 16.

Other players nominated for the Fulham FC, September 2023 Player of the month award are; Ollie O’Neill, Lilly Lambird, Tia Foreman, Callum Osmand, Madi Parsonson, Matt Dibley-Dias and Callum McFarlane.

For Wilfried Ndidi, he will face competition from Jamie Vardy and four others for Leicester City’s, September 2023 Goal of the Month award.

Leicester City have compiled a shortlist of eight goals by first team and development squad players for the award.

To get on the shortlist, Ndidi scored his first ever English Championship goal in the third minute of additional time of the Foxes 4-1 away win over Southampton FC on September 15.

Fellow nominee, Stephy Mavididi laid a pass for the Nigerian International who is flourishing in a more advanced role for Leicester City. Ndidi dribbled past one opponent before firing past the reach of Southampton FC goalie , Gavin Bazunu.

Other first team nominees are veteran English forward, Jamie Vardy, Stephy Mavididi, Kasey McAteer, winner of the August edition who is double nominated.

The list is completed by Developmental squad nominees, Arjan Raikhy, Wanya Marçal and Tawanda Maswanhise.

This season, Wilfred Ndidi has scored three goals and assisted two others for Leicester City FC as he enjoys a switch to a more advanced role under Enzo Maresca.
