Akwa Ibom Police arrest kidnap kingpin linked to abduction of Mobil staff’s wife

Police in Akwa Ibom said, it has arrested one of the notorious kidnappers who was involved in the abduction of the spouse of Exxon-Mobil’s staff, Mrs Adamma Kennedy, on July 7, 2019.

Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, SP Odiko MacDon, made this known to newsmen in an interview at Eket on Friday.

He said though, Mrs Kennedy had since regained her freedom, the Command through intelligence arrested one of the kidnap kingpins who is now cooling off his feet in detention at the police headquarters, Ikot Akpan- Abia.

According to him, “there is one suspected notorious criminal arrested in connection with the kidnap of Mrs Adamma Kennedy, somewhere in Esit Eket.

‘‘The suspect is in detention at police headquarters, Ikot Akpan-Abia, Uyo,’’ he said, adding that, the command had put in place elaborate security measures to apprehend others in connection with the dastardly act.

Mr MacDon further disclosed that, the Command has zero tolerance for criminality in the state, as no stone would be left unturned to wipe out criminals. “As I speak, those involved in criminalities have been charged to court,” he said.

The Police spokesman however, called on members of the public to support the police by giving useful information on criminals in their midst to help them carry out effective policing in the state.
