Petr Cech at Arsenal is killing Jose Mourinho, says Steve Clarke

Petr Cech’s move to Arsenal is ‘killing’ Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, says former assistant manager Steve Clarke.

The Czech Republic ‘keeper sealed an £11 million move to the Emirates this summer and went against the wishes of Mourinho, who didn’t want the 33-year-old to join a direct rival.

After 11 years service with the Blues, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich granted Cech permission to move to whichever club he wanted in recognition of his contribution to the club.

However, Mourinho was said to be furious that Arsene Wenger was able to complete a deal for the ‘keeper and Clarke says it will hurt Mourinho to see Cech at the Gunners.

‘For me, he’s still one of the best goalkeepers in the world,’ said Clarke.

‘He’s a great signing for Arsenal.

‘I smile a bit when I see Jose’s comments because I know inside it will be killing him having to sell one of his best players to a title rival.’
