PRONACO, Okunniyi eulogize late HID Awolowo

Pro National Conference Organisation (PRONACO) has condoled with the nation and entire women folk in Nigeria over the transition of Mama HID Awolowo, 99, describing her demise as “a glorious exit of the surviving matriarch of progressive politics in Nigeria”

While commiserating with the Awolowo political movement, which include several progressive formations across the country, members of mama biological family and the entire women folks in the country at the Ikenne residence of the Awolowos Monday, Veteran Olawale Okunniyi; spokesperson of PRONACO said the exit of mama HID Awolowo has foisted a huge loss on the Nigerian political movement especially the progressives of all shades as it will undoubtedly create a vacuum of ideological guidance in the Nigerian polity

While hinting on plans to immortalise mama HID, Okunniyi, a former governorship aspirant in ogun state said the progressive democratic movement in Nigeria would mobilise every force within its reach to ensure that the historic contributions of mama HID to the progressive political movement in Nigeria is befittingly immortalised and honoured

“We salute the life and times and the invaluable support of mama HID Awolowo to the progressive movement. Her demise is definitely a loss to the entire nation and especially the women folks . As human, Mama was a rare bred personality, as a wife, Awolowo’s jewel of inestimable value and as a mother a shining model of womanhood. Therefore, for us, the ideals for which she lived and died, will forever be valued and promoted in our political circles and lexicon” Okunniyi assured

He however concluded that the only regret of the movement is that HID departed the world on the eve of her centenary anniversary on earth surface, which was already being planned for December 2015 as historic carnival.
