U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio would attend the Munich Security Conference this week before travelling on to Slovakia and Hungary, the State Department said on Tuesday.
Rubio is scheduled to be in Munich from Friday to Sunday for the annual conference, widely regarded as the world’s leading forum on international security and defence policy.
The three-day gathering in the Bavarian capital is expected to bring together more than 60 world leaders and around 100 foreign and defence ministers.
Following the conference, Rubio would remain in Europe and visit Slovakia and Hungary on Feb. 15 and 16, according to the State Department.
In Bratislava, Rubio is also expected to meet with government officials to discuss shared security priorities.
His visit to Budapest is set to include talks on a potential energy partnership between the United States and Hungary, the department said.
