Senator Stella Adaeze Oduah, representing Anambra North in the National Assembly, Monday reached out to a childless woman whose story moved many to tears recently, with a shower of profuse love and palliatives to cushion to harsh effects of the lockdown.
The woman, Mrs. Maria Nwabachili, had cried out, in a pitiful manner, in a heart-rending video that went viral, that she was childless, helpless and further handicapped by the lockdown brought about by the coronavirus pandemic ( COVID-19).
Her lamentation came to the attention of Senator Oduah who immediately put out a passionate plea for whoever knew how to reach the lady to urgently arrange a meeting between her and Mrs. Nwabachili.
Her search notice titled CAN YOU HELP SENATOR STELLA ODUAH FIND MAMA?.reads in full:
My heart broke in a million places watching this heart-rending video and I am angry that this beautiful woman should ever be made to feel lack by reason of being childless.
Dear Mama, on behalf of a society that has obviously failed you, I am sorry and all I can think of is to explore ways to reach out, hug and play the role of that child you never had.
I am calling on anyone that can help me find mama to please drop an acknowledgement video with her and a number with which she can be reached on explicitly stated in the video.
In the same vein, there are many elderly childless women like her in Anambra North and I am assuring them that more help is on the way for though Nature has done its bit, they will always remain our mothers!
Senator Princess Stella Adaeze Oduah OON (OMU).
When the elderly woman was located, Senator Oduah, who could not travel to physically meet with her immediately dispatched members of her team with palliatives, foods and cash, that made the overjoyed woman to shed tears of joy and rain prayers on the Princess who represents her and the entire Anambra North District in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
While her team was with Mrs. Nwabachili, the Senator Oduah insisted that a phone call be made for her to speak directly with the woman and reassure her that she no longer had anything to worry about.
Senator Oduah, a former Minister of Aviation, followed up the encounter with a thank you note to all who facilitated the meeting in equally moving words, the full text of which reads:
AND SENATOR ODUAH FINALLY MEETS MAMA
“The excitement I felt today listening to Mrs. Maria Nwabachili speak on the phone is not something I’d want to trade for anything and I just want to thank everyone that made it possible for me to meet this amazing woman.
To FIDES media that shot that viral video, may God continue to enlarge your coast.
The current lockdown order meant I couldn’t be there physically but kudos to my team who stood in and ensured I got the chance to speak with Mama.
God bless you all.”
