Serve people with your God-given power, Obi charges office holders; Celebrates Okoyes in Enugu

Mr. Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election has called on all political leaders in the country to recognise that all power comes from God and that they must use such God-given Grace to serve the people.

Mr. Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State, said this at Ntigha in Isiala Ngwa, Abia State, on Saturday when he attended the Thanksgiving Service of Hon. Ginger Obinna Onwusibe, the member representing Isiala Ngwa South/Isiala Ngwa North at the House of Representatives.

The political leader, who was at the programme alongside the state’s Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, while rejoicing and thanking God with Hon Ginger for his electoral victory, “encouraged him to always ensure that the right things are done by the government, especially in the area of law-making and to ensure that public funds are used for the public good.”

Mr. Obi left the programme in Abia for Enugu State where he joined Engr Chris Okoye and his wife, Prof Ifeoma Okoye at their 72nd and 70th birthday celebrations respectively.

Articulating his itinerary on his X (former Twitter) platform, Obi said that he was in Enugu to celebrate the many contributions of the Okoyes “to societal well-being and national development.

“While Engr Chris is always known to stand on what is right, Prof Ifeoma has contributed immensely to our medical development, especially through cancer research.

“I pray God to grant them more healthy and fruitful years ahead, and continue to bless them as they serve humanity,” Obi wrote.

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, and other dignitaries also attended the celebration of the Okoyes in Enugu.

Before his trip to Abia and Enugu states, Mr. Obi had paid a return visit to Tungan Madaki village in Abuja earlier in the day, to fulfill a promise he made during the 2024 World Sick Week.

He flew from Abuja to Owerri, the Imo State capital, from where he went to Ntigha in Isiala Ngwa before going to Enugu to be at the celebration of the Okoyes.
