Tinubu condemns Plateau, Kaduna killings, orders security crackdown
President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent attacks by gunmen in Plateau and Kaduna states, describing them as barbaric and unacceptable.
The attacks took place in Angwan Rukuba area of Jos and Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area, where several people were reportedly killed. Some victims, including wedding guests, were also abducted during the incidents.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President assured Nigerians that those behind the attacks would be brought to justice.
Tinubu described the attackers as heartless, noting that targeting innocent people at night was a cowardly act. He warned that such violence could lead to further unrest and reprisal attacks if not quickly addressed.
The President directed security agencies to step up efforts to find and arrest those responsible. He also urged them to act on early warning intelligence to prevent future attacks. Tinubu further called for the immediate rescue of all abducted victims from Kahir village.
He cautioned the media against spreading reports that could increase tension, especially claims suggesting religious motives behind the attacks.
Tinubu also praised the efforts of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, and Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, for their response to the situation and support for rescue operations.
The President expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished the injured a quick recovery.
He added that the Federal Government is working to strengthen security operations by providing modern equipment to help security agencies track and stop criminal activities across the country.
