Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, has called on Nigerians in the diaspora, particularly those living in the United States of America (USA) to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to transform the economic fortunes of the country.
He made the call at a Town Hall meeting on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, organised and coordinated by the Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, on the sidelines of the ongoing 81st United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting according to a statement by the Vice President’s Spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, was held at the Nigeria House in New York.
The Vice President noted that the administration was doing its best to reposition the economy, particularly in the areas of education, health, agriculture and science and technology, and would leverage the intellect of the diaspora community, which, according to him, is “the greatest resource of the future.”
“Citizens of our country have the capacity and intellect to harness our nation’s potentials and take it to greater heights,” the Vice President stressed.
The meeting, which was well attended, also had in attendance top government officials on the entourage of the Vice President to the UNGA81, including Ministers and Governors.
