Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen bagged his 13th Italian Serie A goal of the season to help Napoli secure a 0-2 win at Salernitana.
Their quest for the Italian Serie A title will get a significant boost with another victory, one that took 45 minutes of toil for the breakthrough to arrive.
Napoli were far from their best in the first half until Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa embarked on a driving run to the by-line, to set up the opening goal.
The Cameroon Midfielder delivered a fine ball to Giovanni Di Lorenzo at the far side of the area and he crashed home an effort in off the post to give Napoli the lead just before the half time break.
In the second half, Victor Osimhen will put Napoli 2 goals up with a lightening strike, his 13th goal of the Italian Serie A season.
The Serie A top scorer almost scored another goal heading Piotr Zielinski’s cross down low to Salernitana goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa’s right to force a diving safe.
Salernitana rarely threatened but had one nervous moment seven minutes from time when Krzysztof Piotek fired an effort at goal from the edge of the area but Alex Meret proved equal to it tipping the ball onto the post.
Osimhen and Napoli held on to seal a 0-2 victory over Salernitana on Saturday evening.
The win now takes 12 points clear of AC Milan ahead of their visit to Lazio.
