When Eziada Caro Onyesonwu celebrated retirement in grand style in New Jersey, USA (See pictures)

Friday, October 14, 2022, will go down in history as a great and, indeed, memorable day for Caroline Onyesonwu, nee Ibe, and all those who were part of her retirement celebration in New Jersey, United States of America (USA).

Relatives, friends, colleagues and other well-wishers trooped out to celebrate the Obowo, Imo State, Nigeria-born educationist who retired from the service after 25 years of meritorious service.

In appreciation of her contributions to the education sector, her professional colleagues had earlier celebrated her, and also turned out in full force, for the party that held at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church Hall, Grove Street, Irvington New Jersey.

Those of her colleagues that graced the event include Dr. Gerald Fitzhugh, Superintendent of Schools, Orange Public Schools (OPS), Dr. Terri Russo, retired Director – OPS, Ms. Karen Harris, Director of English Language Arts, OPS as well as other OPS Administrators and staff. Leaders and members of the Nigerian Educators Association (NEA) were also fully represented, led by their President, Lolo Chimezie.

Other dignitaries who also graced the program that was chaired by Chief & Lolo Casmir Uzor Okeke are Hon. Chief & Lolo Elliot Isibor, Chief & Lolo Mike Unegbu, Dr/High Chief & Chief Mrs. Obilo, Chief & Lolo Nathan Chukwuocha (President, Obowo Family Organisation (OFO), New Jersey), Attorney & Mrs. Ethelbert Odinkemere, president emeritus (OFO), Chief & Lolo Moses Chimezie, High Chief & Lolo Teddy Ojibe, Dr. & Dr. (Mrs.) Ibeku, Attorney Ejike Uzor and Mrs. Patience Nkiru Ibeji who flew in from London.

Also, on ground to rejoice with Eziada Onyesonwu and her family were clergymen, including Monsignor (Dr.) Anselm Nwaorgu, Rev. (Dr.) Eustace Edomobi, Fr. Marcel Uwandu, Fr. Emeka Iwuanyanwu, Fr. Peter Iwuala, Fr. Albert Nze, Fr. Dr. Longinus Onwuegbulam, Fr. Nnaemeka Amaobi, Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Conleth Eleanya as well as Rev. Sr. Andrea Okafor, Rev. Sr. Olivia Okoro, Sr. Divination Eke, Sr. Rufina Chukwuma, and other members of the Igbo Catholic Church (ICC) who came out in full force to rejoice with and be a blessing to Eziada Onyesonwu.

Judge Jude Nkama was also at the fun-filled event that was excellently compered by Multiple Chief Kelechi Onyegbule, and flawlessly packaged by Chairman of the organizing committee, Chris Ejekwu (Governor). Equally present were Professor Mondy Gold, President of Ijaw Diaspora Congress (IDC), Alphonse Prophete, Bonny Uchenna-Life, High Chief Ilum, High Chief Sir Patrick Onwunaka, Mazi Alex & Dr. (Mrs.) Ugochi Abazie, the Ikwuegbus, Mrs. Oluchi Nwankwo Ezeike, Chris & Chinyere Okpukpara, Dr. Adanze Aguwa, and Princess Augusta Njemanze.

There were Obowo men and women from across the USA in attendance, including the Obodo sisters ably led by Ms. Lauretta Obodo. Also, physically present in their full regalia were Her Royal Majesty Nkechi Nwafili and Her Royal Majesty Priscilla Achilike. Mr. Obinna Nwachukwu came in from Maryland, Mrs. Henrietta Okonkwo (from New York), Mrs. Vero Okonkwo (from New York), Mayor Modestus Ihemadu (from New York), Mayor Modestus Ihemadu (from New York), Mr. & Mrs. Chigozie Egwim from Maryland, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Egeonu and Mr. Chukwudi Egu and family.

There was plenty to eat and drink and lots of dancing and jolly moments. A memorable night, indeed!!!!
