One year in office: Gov. Ugwuanyi tasks contractors on completion of road projects

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has charged some of the construction companies handling the on-going road projects in the state to increase their pace of work towards the completion of their projects for commissioning as part of the activities marking his one year in office.
The governor who spoke through the Chairman of Enugu State Urban Renewal Committee, Arc Chris Offor, during the committee’s inspection tour of the over nine on-going road projects, told the contractors that it is the intention of the state government to commission some roads as part of activities marking its one year in office.
Arc. Offor, who was accompanied to the sites by a technical member of the committee and state commissioner for science and technology, Engr. Greg Nnaji, pointed out some of the technical challenges on the quality assurance and quality control of the work done and offered advice on how to tackle them.
He said that the governor through his passion for good governance embarked on massive roads construction at the grassroots, in spite of the prevailing economic challenges, in order to give the people in the rural areas a sense of belonging, adding that the Committee was fully committed to ensuring that his (governor) vision is actualized for the overall benefit of the masses.
The committee chairman, who expressed satisfaction with the level of performance by some of the construction companies, charged the construction company handling the Ameke – Amankwo- Amah brewery junction bypass road to increase the pace of work to justify the mandate given to it.
Responding, the project managers of CCC Nig. Ltd and Setraco Construction Company, Abdulsalami and Hisham Yassin, handling the 9th mile bypass and Nike Lake Road, respectively, assured the committee that their roads will be ready for commissioning before May 29.
