Labour Party (LP) Presidential Candidate in the February 25, 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi has paid a visit to Mrs. Jennifer Efidi, the woman who caught global attention for her rare acts of patriotism and bravery during the Presidential and National Assembly elections in Lagos state.

Mrs. Efidi had been brutally attacked by political thugs who had been unleashed on election day in Lagos to terrorise voters with the aim of stopping them from voting against their paymasters.

Soon after getting some first aid and still dripping blood from the wounds inflicted by her attackers, Mrs. Efidi insisted on performing her civic duty of obediently casting her vote.

Mr. Peter Obi in a tweet on his visit to the woman who he describes as “one of the great icons of Nigeria’s democracy,” said: “Today, I visited Mrs. Jennifer Efidi. She was attacked on 25th February in an attempt to stop her from voting, but she stood her ground. Jennifer is one of the great icons of Nigeria’s democracy.

“She is my point of contact with every Nigerian who suffered a similar fate in their bid to exercise their voting rights, and contribute to a new Nigeria. Like many Nigerians, I acknowledge her bravery and resoluteness.

“Jennifer is a true manifestation of Profiles in Courage for a new Nigeria. -PO.”
