Aruna Quadri lived up to his billing in global table tennis when he guided Team Nigeria’s fight back to win the gold in the men’s table tennis event of the All Africa Games in Brazzaville, Congo.
The Egyptians who won the women’s gold medal at the expense of their Nigerian counterparts won the first set but Segun Toriola restored parity for Nigeria when he dumped his opponent 3-1.
That set the stage for Africa’s number one, Aruna Quadri to offset his bitter rival, Mohammed Umar to hand Nigeria the gold medal.
The victory qualifies Nigeria for the table tennis event of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
